Games Industries: No Recession for Hobby and Pleasure
Global recession in the middle of 2008 and 2009 almost collapse some of big company like Yahoo, General Motors, Toyota, etc but isn’t happened in the games industries. Games industries created the new trend when the others try to avoid their collapse. It is sign that there is no recession for hobby and pleasure.
This new trend in the games industries was called SOCIAL GAMES. It was named social games because they played all of people by social networking web, like Facebook, MySpace, etc. Social games user in a years ago reach out 50 millions and now has been increased into 300 million people.
Mark Pincus is the lucky man behind this situation. When the Facebook popular in all over the world, he try to join with Facebook. He was born Zynga with his phenomenal games, such as Texas Hold ‘Em, FarmVille, Mafia Wars, etc
In the same story, Kristian Segerstrale with her Playfish and all of popular games like Pet Society and Restaurant City. Zynga, Playfish, and Playdom are the producer of popular games social today.
The producers of social games get their success when the games played have been increased. About US$ 300 million they get from virtual goods product, such as coins, experiences and other attribute related their games product.
Fund rotate in this industry will be increase. Some investor and big company, like EA will be ready to gushing their fund about US$400 millions to get over some of social games producers. Based on the estimation the total business value of three social games producers in 2010 years will be perforate about US$ 1 billion. That’s the fantastic number.
Games industries for mobile phone also never depressed. iTunes has been sell their application about 1 billion in a last years and much of them are games. Andy Skirvin is one of millionaire for iTunes application games. He was just employer in one of little games company in San Diego. Now, his Koi Pond games has been download more than 1 million people and become one of the best seller application games for iTunes.
Skirvin, Kristian, and Pincus have been evidence that games industries never ending by crisis and recession.
