How to Cut Memory usage in Firefox Web browser
Firefox is normally good about memory management, so we don’t recommend memory allocation tweaks. But there is one setting in Firefox that may be useful if you tend to have many browser tabs and windows open at the same time. This step will guide you how to change memory usage in Firefox
- Open up the about:config page, and then right click anywhere in the window
- Select New->Boolean menu to create a new preference setting
- Type “config.trim_on_minimize” in the pop up window
- Choose True as the default value. This setting will offload memory using from RAM to virtual memory on your hard drives when windows are minimized
Firefox will take time little longer than usual to waking up the minimize window, since Firefox will need to transfer its state back to physical memory
